International passport delivery, carried by one person from door to door

DocumentJet delivers passports between countries with a dedicated flight courier: one person collects the passport, travels with it on a scheduled passenger flight and hands it to the recipient. It is the fastest lawful way to move an issued passport internationally, and it is priced like one person traveling for you, usually between USD $2,000 and $5,000.

One person, whole journey
The same courier normally collects, flies and delivers. Where a driver covers the first or last leg, that handover is documented.
Price and windows first
You see the price, a pickup window in origin time and a delivery window in destination time before you enter a single name.
Charged only when confirmed
Your card is authorized at booking. Our 24/7 Operations Center confirms courier and flight, usually within 30 minutes, and only then is the payment taken.
Courier holding a passport and a DocumentJet document envelope

Passports are the one document a courier cannot replace with a scan. When the original is in Munich and the person who needs it is in Chicago, something physical has to cross the Atlantic, and the express-mail networks were not built for that job: a passport in a sorting hub is just another envelope, and a two-day estimate is only an estimate.

A flight courier changes the mechanics. The passport never leaves one person's hands. It goes into carry-on, through security with the courier, onto the next suitable flight and out of the terminal to the recipient. We let you know the courier's name and flight itinerary, and you get a documented handover at the end.

What a typical delivery looks like

An example: a passport at a home address in Frankfurt, needed in New York. Times are illustrative; your quote shows the windows for your route.

  1. 9:10 am

You enter both addresses and see a price, a pickup window and a delivery window. You book; your card is authorized but not charged.

  2. 9:35 am

Operations has chosen a courier already near Frankfurt Airport and a nonstop flight departing early afternoon. You receive the confirmation, and we let you know the courier's full name and the itinerary. The payment is now captured.

  3. 11:20 am

The courier arrives at the pickup address, may check that the envelope contains a passport and nothing else, and takes it into their carry-on. You receive "document collected".

  4. 1:45 pm

Departure. The passport is in the courier's carry-on. Status updates continue: boarded, departed, arrived.

  5. 4:30 pm local

Landing in New York. Because of the six-hour time difference the passport arrives on the same calendar day. The courier takes a taxi or train to the recipient.

  6. 6:15 pm local

Handover to the named recipient. Name, time, place and a signature or photo are recorded and sent to you as proof of delivery.

Same day or next day, and why direction matters

Westbound deliveries from Europe to North America often land on the same calendar day, because the flight is shorter than the time-zone gap. Eastbound is the opposite: a passport collected in Los Angeles in the morning reaches London the next morning, because the overnight flight banks are the only ones that work. Long routes with a connection, say São Paulo to Singapore, take longer again.

The pickup side has its own clock. FLYTRIX has more than 1,000 flight couriers positioned around major international airports, so in cities like Frankfurt, London, New York, Tokyo or Singapore a courier can usually be at the address within a few hours. Where nobody suitable is nearby, we position one by car, train or plane first, and that time is already built into the pickup window you see before booking.

Is it legal for a courier to carry my passport?

In many countries, yes: a passport may be transported by an authorized third party, and a courier is one. The rules differ by issuing country and by the countries the passport passes through, so DocumentJet only confirms bookings where we know the transport can be performed under the applicable requirements. If we cannot, the booking is cancelled and the authorization on your card is released.

Two things never happen. The courier never travels on your passport; they use their own. And the courier never presents your passport as identification anywhere. It is carried as an item, in an envelope, like any other document.

If you are booking on behalf of someone else, which is common when a partner or assistant arranges the delivery, you confirm during booking that the passport holder has authorized it. For some routes, and whenever the passport is being released by a hotel, an employer or an authority, we may ask for that authorization in writing before the courier accepts the passport.

What to have ready before you book

  • The exact address where the passport is now, and the name of the person who will hand it over. A hotel front desk or an office reception is fine; tell us who to ask for.

  • The recipient's name and a phone number the courier can reach on arrival. If the recipient is at an airport, choose "Inside an airport terminal" and give the flight number, terminal and boarding time.

  • The passport in an ordinary envelope, not sealed shut. The courier may need to look inside before accepting it; that is aviation security, not curiosity.

  • Your own phone nearby for the half hour after booking. Operations occasionally needs to confirm a detail before the courier is dispatched.

What it costs, and what you are paying for

Most international passport deliveries come to between USD $2,000 and $5,000. The number is what it costs to send a person: a flight ticket bought at short notice, ground transport at both ends, sometimes a hotel night before the return leg, positioning of the courier to the pickup city, and the courier's fee for a day or two of their time. Your quote is fixed once operations confirms it; if the only available flights cost more than the estimate assumed, you are asked before anything is charged, and you can decline without cost.

Whether that is worth it is a plain calculation: a missed closing, a visa appointment that took months to get, or a family member stranded abroad usually costs more than the courier. Where it does not, a consulate emergency travel document or an express-mail envelope is the better tool, and our guide on what to do if you forgot your passport walks through those options.

Transport only

DocumentJet moves passports that have already been issued. We do not issue, renew or expedite passports, arrange appointments or give immigration advice, and we are not affiliated with any passport office or airline. A delivered passport lets the holder travel; whether an airline boards them or a border admits them remains the decision of the airline and the authority.

Questions people ask about this

How does a booking work?

First, enter your pickup and delivery locations on our website to receive an instant price and estimated pickup and delivery timeframe. When you book, your payment card is initially authorized, but the payment is not captured yet. Our 24/7 Operations Center then reviews the booking, selects a suitable flight courier and identifies the best available flight itinerary. We aim to provide final confirmation, including the itinerary and final ETA, within 30 minutes. If we can perform the delivery at the originally quoted price and within the permitted delivery timeframe, your booking is confirmed and your payment is captured. If the final price is higher than originally quoted, you can either approve the additional amount or cancel the booking without charge. If the final delivery ETA is more than four hours later than the end of the originally quoted delivery window, you can likewise accept the revised itinerary or cancel without charge. If we cannot confirm the service, your card authorization will be released.

How fast can DocumentJet deliver my passport or document?

On the same day or by the next day — for most major international routes. For example, a document collected in Europe can often be delivered to the U.S. on the same calendar day because of the time difference, while many U.S.–Europe deliveries arrive the next day due to flight schedules and time zones. Actual delivery time depends on the pickup location, courier availability, available flights and the final handover location. Your instant quote shows an estimated pickup and delivery window before you book, and our 24/7 Operations Center confirms the final itinerary after booking.

Can someone else legally carry my passport?

In many countries, a passport may be transported by an authorized third party, including a courier. However, rules concerning possession and transportation of passports can differ between countries and can also depend on the passport's issuing country and the countries through which it is transported. DocumentJet only confirms bookings where the intended transportation can be performed in accordance with the applicable operational and legal requirements known to us. The courier does not use the passport for travel or identification. It is transported solely as the customer's document.

Do I need written authorization from the passport holder?

Depending on the circumstances and route, we may require written authorization from the passport holder before accepting the passport for transportation. The authorization confirms that DocumentJet, FLYTRIX and the assigned courier have permission to temporarily take possession of and transport the passport solely for the purpose of completing the delivery. Additional authorization may be required where the document is being collected from a hotel, company, embassy, consulate, government authority or another third party.

Will I receive proof of delivery?

Yes. We document the final handover. Depending on the circumstances, proof of delivery may include the recipient name, signature, photograph of the handover, delivery time and location or other confirmation appropriate to the recipient. Where lawful and appropriate, additional identity verification may be documented. If the document is handed to an authority or official representative, alternative confirmation such as the representative's name, department or badge/reference number may be recorded.
