Urgent court document delivery

Urgent court document delivery: forty-eight hours to a deadline in another country

When a court document must be in another country within a day or two, DocumentJet sends a dedicated courier who collects it within hours, flies with it and hands it to your counsel or the receiving office, with the arrival window shown before you book and confirmed with flights within about 30 minutes. If we cannot make the deadline, you find out before you pay, not after.

Collected within hours
In most major cities a courier is at your office within a few hours, evenings and weekends included. The pickup window is shown before booking.
Arrival window before you commit
In the destination's local time, built from real flights for the date. Compare it with the registry's hours before you enter a card.
Free exit if it will not make it
If confirmation shows a later arrival or a higher price than quoted, you cancel at no cost. If we cannot do it at all, your card is never charged.

The situation is usually the same: a procedural deadline in one jurisdiction, an original signed or sworn in another, and a discovery, sometimes late on a Friday, that the version the court will accept is the one on this desk. The express envelope quoted at "two to three business days" is a coin toss against a Monday cutoff. This page is what a dedicated courier can do in the same window, and how to decide in the next ten minutes whether it is the right call.

A Friday afternoon, a Monday morning deadline

An illustration: a sworn affidavit in a New York office, needed by counsel in London for a Monday 10 am lodging. Times are examples; your quote shows the real ones.

  1. Fri 4:40 pm

You enter the two office addresses. The quote shows pickup this evening and delivery Saturday morning London time. You book; the card is authorized.

  2. Fri 5:05 pm

Operations confirms a courier in New Jersey and a seat on a 9:30 pm departure from JFK. You receive the courier's name and the itinerary. The payment is captured now.

  3. Fri 6:50 pm

The courier collects from your reception, may check that the envelope holds paper, and records the handover. Status: collected.

  4. Sat 9:40 am London

Landed. Status updates followed the flight through the night. The courier takes the train into the city.

  5. Sat 11:15 am London

Delivered to your instructing solicitor at the address given, against her signature. Proof of delivery in your inbox. Counsel has the weekend to prepare the lodging for Monday.

Five things to check before you book

  • The last moment the receiving side can actually use the document. Registry counter hours, counsel's availability over a weekend, whether a Saturday delivery helps or just sits in a locked office until Monday.

  • That the delivery window in the quote ends before that moment. It is shown in the destination's local time.

  • Who receives it, by name and mobile number, and whether anyone else may sign. Weekend deliveries to an office building need a person who will be there.

  • That the document is ready to travel: signed, sworn, apostilled or legalized as required. The courier carries what exists; nothing can be added en route.

  • That someone at your end can hand it over in the pickup window. Late on a Friday that may mean waiting for the courier yourself.

The two windows that protect you

The quote you see is built from schedules. The confirmation you receive within about 30 minutes is built from a named courier and booked flights. Between the two, the rule is simple: if the confirmed arrival is more than four hours later than the end of the quoted window, or the price is higher than quoted, you are asked before anything is charged and can walk away. For a deadline case this is the moment to hold the confirmed arrival against the registry's hours one more time, because after confirmation the service is committed and, like any short-notice travel, generally not cancellable.

After that, disruption is ours to manage. A cancelled flight means operations rebooks the courier onto the next workable one and sends you a revised arrival. We cannot promise the airline's schedule, but a courier with a phone in a terminal has options a parcel does not.

What the courier can do at the other end

Deliver to a person. Your local counsel, a clerk who has agreed to receive, a tribunal secretariat. The handover is recorded with the receiving person's name, time and place, and for officials their department and reference. What the courier cannot do is lodge the document as a filing, serve it, or argue with a counter about whether it is acceptable. Those are acts for a party or its licensed representative, which is why the reliable pattern is courier to counsel, counsel to court, and why the timeline above ends at a solicitor's signature rather than a court stamp.

When not to book a courier

The court will accept an electronic copy provisionally

When: Many now do, with the original to follow.

File the copy today and send the original by the method the timeline allows. A courier for a document that could have been emailed is an expensive way to feel busy.

The deadline is already past the delivery window

When: The quote's window ends after the cutoff.

Do not book hoping for the early end of the window. Ask counsel about an extension, a local re-execution, or whether a certified copy can be substituted. We will not take a booking we can see failing.

Questions people ask about this

How quickly can you pick up my document?

In many major cities, a flight courier can be at the pickup location within a few hours. The exact pickup timeframe depends on where the nearest suitable courier is located. If no courier is available nearby, we may need to position one to the pickup city by car, train or air. Your estimated pickup window is shown as part of your instant quote before booking.

How does a booking work?

First, enter your pickup and delivery locations on our website to receive an instant price and estimated pickup and delivery timeframe. When you book, your payment card is initially authorized, but the payment is not captured yet. Our 24/7 Operations Center then reviews the booking, selects a suitable flight courier and identifies the best available flight itinerary. We aim to provide final confirmation, including the itinerary and final ETA, within 30 minutes. If we can perform the delivery at the originally quoted price and within the permitted delivery timeframe, your booking is confirmed and your payment is captured. If the final price is higher than originally quoted, you can either approve the additional amount or cancel the booking without charge. If the final delivery ETA is more than four hours later than the end of the originally quoted delivery window, you can likewise accept the revised itinerary or cancel without charge. If we cannot confirm the service, your card authorization will be released.

What happens if the courier's flight is cancelled or delayed?

Our 24/7 Operations Center monitors the courier's journey throughout the shipment. If a flight is cancelled, significantly delayed or disrupted, our team will evaluate the fastest practical alternative. This may include rebooking the courier onto another flight, changing the routing or making other operational arrangements. We will inform you of significant changes and provide an updated ETA. As with any service that relies on commercial passenger flights, DocumentJet cannot prevent airline cancellations, weather disruptions, airport closures or other circumstances outside our control. A delay alone does not entitle you to a refund; if the delivery cannot be completed, our Terms & Conditions set out what is refunded.

Can I cancel my booking after it has been confirmed?

Before we confirm your booking, you can withdraw your booking request at any time free of charge. After confirmation, you can ask us to stop the service at any time, but the agreed price generally remains payable, less any costs we save as a result — by then flight tickets, courier arrangements and other transportation services have usually been booked. If we ask you to approve a higher price or a delivery ETA that is more than four hours later than the originally quoted delivery window, you can decline the change and cancel without charge. Any mandatory cancellation or consumer rights that apply under applicable law remain unaffected.
