A legal document courier for firms that need custody, not just delivery
DocumentJet gives law firms and legal departments a dedicated courier for original documents that must cross a border quickly and arrive with an unbroken, documented chain of custody. One experienced courier collects, flies with and hands over the documents to a named person; each transfer of possession is recorded. It is booked online without an account and invoiced to the firm.
Custody you can put in the file
Pickup, each handover and delivery are recorded with name, time and place. Where a driver covers a leg, that transfer is documented too.
Confidentiality as a condition
Couriers accept our confidentiality requirements before any assignment and are instructed to verify contents without reading them.
Booked by the firm, for the client
An assistant or paralegal books; the firm is invoiced. EU VAT-registered firms enter their VAT number and are invoiced accordingly.
Legal work still runs on a surprising number of originals. Wet-ink signature pages for a closing in another jurisdiction. An apostilled power of attorney a foreign notary will not act without. Court documents a registry accepts only in paper. Evidence that has to be produced, not emailed. When one of those is on the wrong side of an ocean and the deadline is fixed, the question is not whether it will arrive but whether you can account for every hand it passed through.
That is the difference between a courier and a dedicated courier. A network can tell you an envelope was scanned in Leipzig at 2:14 am. A dedicated courier can tell you who was holding it at 2:14 am, because it was the same person who collected it and who will hand it over.
Chain of custody, in practice
What is recorded, and when.
01
Collection
The courier arrives in the pickup window, identifies themselves, and asks for the person named in the booking. They may open the envelope to confirm it holds paper documents; if they do, they are instructed to look no further than that. The documents go into the transport pouch. Recorded: who handed over, when, where. You receive the status update immediately.
02
In transit
The pouch is in the courier's carry-on and does not leave their control. Security screening may open it; the courier cannot prevent a lawful inspection and neither can we. On a connection the courier walks it between gates. Where local rules require a dedicated driver for an airport transfer, the courier-to-driver and driver-to-courier handovers are recorded like any other.
03
Delivery
To the individual you named, or to a representative you authorized in the booking: a reception, a notary's clerk, opposing counsel's office. Recorded: recipient name, time, place, signature or photograph as appropriate. If you need delivery to a specific person and no one else, say so in the booking and the courier will wait or call rather than leave it with a front desk.
What legal teams usually send
Closing sets and signature pages
Wet-ink counterparts to a signing in another jurisdiction, delivered to the signatory or to the closing agent on the day.
Notarized and apostilled instruments
Powers of attorney, corporate resolutions, affidavits: documents a foreign counterparty or registry will only act on in original.
Court and arbitration documents
Filings, exhibits and evidence delivered to counsel, a registrar or a tribunal secretariat. We deliver to the office; filing itself remains with you.
Corporate and transactional records
Share certificates, original board minutes, bank mandates, tender submissions with a sealed-envelope deadline.
Client passports
Held for a visa application or a notarization and now needed by the client abroad. The client authorizes the transport; the firm books.
Price and pickup and delivery windows in seconds. No account.
Instant price. Instant ETA. Book online.
Timing against a fixed date
Plan backwards from the moment the document has to be on a desk, not from the day you can send it. On most major international routes a document collected in the morning is delivered the same day westbound (Europe to North America) or the next morning eastbound (North America to Europe, Europe to Asia). Add half a day for a connection or a smaller airport. The quote shows the delivery window in the recipient's local time; if that window sits after your deadline, the honest answer is that the courier cannot make it and you should know that before booking, not after.
Once you book, our 24/7 Operations Center confirms a named courier and the flights within about 30 minutes. Your card is authorized at booking and charged only at that confirmation. If the only flights that work cost more than the quote assumed, or land more than four hours later than the window you saw, you approve or cancel without charge. After confirmation the price is fixed; airline disruption is our problem to solve, not yours to pay for.
Booking on a client's behalf, and invoicing
The booking form asks who is arranging the delivery: the sender, the recipient, or someone else. A firm sending for a client chooses the third option and enters the firm as the customer, with the firm's address and, for EU VAT-registered businesses, its VAT number. The number is checked against the EU register; if it validates, the invoice is issued without VAT under the reverse-charge rules where they apply. Where the firm is the sender itself, the person booking is asked whether they contract in their own name or on behalf of the firm, so the invoice comes out right.
Payment is by card; the receipt and invoice arrive by email once the shipment is confirmed. The seller of record is FLYTRIX Americas LLC. If your accounts department needs a purchase-order reference on the invoice, put it in the additional information field and operations will add it.
Where we stop
We carry and hand over. We do not file with a court, serve process, witness signatures or advise on whether a document will be accepted at the other end. If a registry requires filing by a licensed person, arrange that person to receive from our courier. If a document needs an apostille or legalization before it travels, that has to be done before pickup; the courier cannot obtain it en route.
Questions people ask about this
Can I trust my flight courier?
DocumentJet uses experienced flight couriers who work as independent On-Board Couriers for FLYTRIX and other time-critical logistics companies. We require previous On-Board Courier experience from couriers used for DocumentJet assignments. Many of our couriers are personally known to our 24/7 Operations Center team and regularly perform assignments for FLYTRIX. Couriers are also required to comply with our confidentiality and operational requirements.
Will the flight courier open or read my documents?
For aviation security and compliance purposes, DocumentJet couriers must be able to verify what they are being asked to transport. The courier may therefore open the outer envelope or packaging and visually inspect the contents before accepting custody. The purpose of the inspection is to verify that the shipment contains only permitted documents. Our couriers are instructed to avoid unnecessarily reviewing or recording sensitive information and are subject to confidentiality requirements.
Will the same flight courier escort my document for the entire journey?
In most cases, yes. The flight courier will normally personally collect the document, travel with it and complete the final delivery. In some locations, however, local regulations or operational circumstances may require us to use a dedicated driver for the first or last part of the journey. Any handover between a flight courier, driver or other authorized service provider is documented as part of our chain-of-custody process.
Who will my document be handed over to?
If you select Person as the recipient, we will normally hand the document only to the individual identified in your booking. If you want to authorize another person to receive it, please contact us before delivery. If you select Company, the shipment may be handed over to an authorized representative of that organization, such as reception, security, office or warehouse personnel. If delivery must be made to a specific individual, please tell us in advance. For hotel deliveries, please specify whether reception or concierge staff are permitted to accept the shipment. For airport deliveries, the document may be handed over to the named recipient or, where necessary and appropriate, to an airline, airport, immigration or border-control representative.
Will I receive proof of delivery?
Yes. We document the final handover. Depending on the circumstances, proof of delivery may include the recipient name, signature, photograph of the handover, delivery time and location or other confirmation appropriate to the recipient. Where lawful and appropriate, additional identity verification may be documented. If the document is handed to an authority or official representative, alternative confirmation such as the representative's name, department or badge/reference number may be recorded.
